SENTÍ Y DESCUBRE ANDALUCÍA

Welcome in Sorvilán

Sorvilán is a small village nestled between the mountains and the sea, in the Alpujarra region. It lies 800 metres above sea level and 11 kilometres from the nearest beach.

Here, time has stood still and life goes on at a leisurely pace: the fields are still ploughed by oxen and the almonds are shelled by hand. You won’t find any boutiques or restaurants, but you will find a majestic tranquillity, stunning views of the mountains and the sea, a very welcoming community, and beautiful spots for long or short walks.
The road leading to the village is very scenic, although it can be a challenge for drivers who aren’t used to mountain roads.
A stroll through the narrow streets of a typical white village in Andalusia.
At Sorvilán, you’ll find a respite from today’s fast-paced world, along with peace and relaxation. Whether you’re here to work, unwind or explore new places, Sorvilán offers a sense of distance, inspiration and a warm welcome — create memories that will stay with you for a lifetime.

What should you know when planning your stay?

Here, time passes slowly, far removed from the hustle and bustle and fast pace of the modern world. This is a great advantage of this place, but it can also sometimes be a challenge for visitors. To ensure your stay in Sorvilán is a real success, here are a few practical tips.

Is there a shop in the town?

There is a small shop in the village, open seven days a week, where you can buy essentials; some food items are also delivered on various days and sold directly from the vans. Bread is delivered daily, fruit and vegetables once a week, as are fish and seafood, frozen foods and other groceries – once a week.

Shopping outside Sorvilán

You can do your bigger shop at the Dia supermarket in Albuñol, 10 km away. It’s usually open from 9.00 am to 9.30 pm (closed on Sundays). You can check the opening hours on Google.

The bar and other attractions in the town

Next to the church is Juan’s bar, which is open every day. It serves good coffee, as well as chilled alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. You can book a yoga session with a local instructor or enjoy a relaxing massage. There’s also the option of taking flamenco lessons, or drawing and painting classes – we’ll provide direct contact details to anyone interested.

Municipal swimming pool

During the summer season, the public swimming pool is open – it’s well worth a visit if you don’t feel like going to the seaside.

Pharmacy and doctor

The pharmacy is open every day from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm (give or take a bit :-). The doctor sees patients in the village on Tuesdays from 8.30 am to 10.30 am and on Thursdays from 12.00 pm to 2.00 pm; you can also visit the clinic in Albuñol, on Carretera de Orgiva, every day from 6.00 am to 3.00 pm.
