Here, time passes slowly, far removed from the hustle and bustle and fast pace of the modern world. This is a great advantage of this place, but it can also sometimes be a challenge for visitors. To ensure your stay in Sorvilán is a real success, here are a few practical tips.
There is a small shop in the village, open seven days a week, where you can buy essentials; some food items are also delivered on various days and sold directly from the vans. Bread is delivered daily, fruit and vegetables once a week, as are fish and seafood, frozen foods and other groceries – once a week.
You can do your bigger shop at the Dia supermarket in Albuñol, 10 km away. It’s usually open from 9.00 am to 9.30 pm (closed on Sundays). You can check the opening hours on Google.
Next to the church is Juan’s bar, which is open every day. It serves good coffee, as well as chilled alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. You can book a yoga session with a local instructor or enjoy a relaxing massage. There’s also the option of taking flamenco lessons, or drawing and painting classes – we’ll provide direct contact details to anyone interested.
During the summer season, the public swimming pool is open – it’s well worth a visit if you don’t feel like going to the seaside.
The pharmacy is open every day from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm (give or take a bit :-). The doctor sees patients in the village on Tuesdays from 8.30 am to 10.30 am and on Thursdays from 12.00 pm to 2.00 pm; you can also visit the clinic in Albuñol, on Carretera de Orgiva, every day from 6.00 am to 3.00 pm.
